A Year in Pictures: Week 7

Saturday 12 February

This is the face of a baby who's slept much better on the return flight than she did on the outbound... :).

Sunday 13 February

Anyone who knows my boyfriend won't be surprised to learn that he got me Glee pyjamas for Valentine's Day ;).

Monday 14 February

Happy Valentine's Day!

Tuesday 15 February

We started solid foods this week. It was a qualified success - some foods (carrots) were better received than others (bananas) - but one thing I can say with certainty was that it was a very messy affair...

Wednesday 16 February

Becky and Ethan came round to visit this afternoon. I remember when my baby used to snuggle like this...

Thursday 17 February

It was the final Baby Sensory group of this term today. We had a great time at the classes and I've learned a lot about how to keep a baby entertained :).

Friday 18 February

I rode the Waterloo & City line for the first time in years today. It was about as busy as this too (this isn't my photo; I stole it from Wikipedia again. I draw the line at trainspotting).

A Year in Pictures: Week 6

Saturday 5 February

A 9.5-hour flight to Orlando. For the 30 minutes that she did sleep, her arm was like this most of the time...

Sunday 6 February

We spent the day lounging around and getting over our jet-lag, then we had burgers and watched the Superbowl in the evening. Actually, everyone else watched the Superbowl - I went to bed at 20:00 as Daisy had decided that from 03:00 to 06:00 that morning was her awake time...

Monday 7 February

Annabelle bought herself and Daisy some co-ordinating outfits. So cute.

Tuesday 8 February

Annabelle's 5th birthday. We went out for dinner at the Melting Pot. Tuesday was also the day that Keri found out that her new baby will be a girl :).

Wednesday 9 February

Miss Ginny took some photos of Daisy in the Florida sunshine.

Thursday 10 February

Daisy & Annabelle's co-ordinating PJs.

Friday 11 February

At the zoo with Auntie Jen.

A Year in Pictures: Week 5

Saturday 29 January

This picture is a total cop-out as I didn't take it - I stole it from Wikipedia :). But it does show where I was today, and I loved the show the fourth time even more than I did the other three...

Sunday 30 January

The ubergeek strikes again. I even have a porta-puzzle carrier for it :).

Monday 31 January

This girl just loves bathtime.

Tuesday 1 February

On the left, the number of dirty nappies we usually get through in a week (roughly one a day but not every day). On the right, the number of dirty nappies we've been through in the past 24 hours. And also the number of outfits.

Wednesday 2 February

Kisses with Daddy.

Thursday 3 February

Phone-quality instead of camera-quality, but I still love it.

Friday 4 February

I finally got started on packing for Florida tomorrow...

A Year in Pictures: Week 4

Saturday 22 January

I make carrot & coriander soup on average every 4 or 5 days. Carrots, onion, vegetable stock and coriander. So simple even I can't mess it up.

Sunday 23 January

This kid is going to grow up with square eyes...

Monday 24 January
This is what my weight loss chart looks like so far. 14lbs down, 20 to go...

Tuesday 25 January

Isla came round today. They were both full of smiles until the camera came out ;)

Wednesday 26 January

In a bid to stop my brain from atrophying, I did this jigsaw puzzle this evening. That's right, I am a geek.

Thursday 27 January

We went to see Becky and Ethan today. He's 5 weeks old tomorrow, and his due date was 3 days ago :).

Friday 28 January

This is what the lounge looks like on any given day: toys all over the place, a child in the bouncer and Baby Einstein on the TV...

A Year in Pictures: Week 3

Saturday 15 January

I spent most of the evening playing Jumbline on the iPad. I'm a girl who knows how to party on a Saturday night.

Sunday 16 January

She wasn't entirely sure what to make of her new bath-time pal...

Monday 17 January

This was Daddy's idea :)

Tuesday 18 January

We went to the play barn this morning for Bethan's birthday. This is Joe; he's nearly 4 weeks old and he weighs about 6.5 lbs. Today was supposed to be his due date. I know everyone says it but it's hard to imagine that Daisy was this size not that long ago...

Wednesday 19 January

This huge pile of clothes is what Liz brought round for Daisy today. That girl is so spoiled :). Included in the pile were three swimsuits, so we're all set for Florida.

Thursday 20 January

Thursday mornings we go to Baby Sensory Group. Today it was all about different textures, and it turns out Daisy's favourite was the whisk...

Friday 21 January

Uncle Ryan bought Daisy these Converse (and another pair that look like Nemo) when she was newborn. She's very excited that she's big enough to fit into them now!

A Year in Pictures: Week 2

I have a feeling it's going to get tough trying to find things to photograph later in the year, but I did OK for week 2...

Saturday 8 January

Daisy and her friends went to Lily's first birthday party today, and we attempted to get a photo of them all together. Daisy was overdue a nap and was quite cranky, but we still managed to get a couple of shots before she stopped co-operating. From left to right we have: William, nearly 5 weeks old; Robert, 3 days older than William but 5 weeks premature when he was born; Dougie, nearly 4 months; Daisy, 4.5 months; and Lily, 1 year and 1 day.

Sunday 9 January

A friend gave us this bouncer and Daisy loves it! She doesn't actually bounce yet, as her feet only just touch the floor, but this is officially her new favourite thing.

Monday 10 January

Daisy doesn't just drop off to sleep during the day. She usually needs to be in the car, so I tend to schedule my trips to the shops etc around nap times. But I refuse to take her out in the car purely so she'll go to sleep, so if I don't need to go out, this is what we do instead - put her next to the hob with the extractor fan on full power.

Tuesday 11 January

All legal and above board! Daisy's passport arrived in the post today, which I thought was mighty quick as I only submitted the application last Wednesday. I was getting a little worried that it might not come back in time for our trip to Florida on 5 Feb, especially when the woman at the Post Office said it could take around 3 weeks to come back, which I thought was cutting it a bit fine. But in the end there was nothing to worry about. 24 days and counting till we see Annabelle & Corgan (and Keri & Keith of course)!

Wednesday 12 January

Someone's found her thumb :-). I wasn't keen on the idea of her sucking her thumb but as she won't take a dummy (I was even less keen on this too), at least she can self-soothe now.

Thursday 13 January

Non-maternity jeans! Granted, they're men's, but they are quite big - round the waist as well as the length and at the knees - and they'll have to do until I can fit into my regular jeans. I refuse to go out and buy another pair when I have 9 or 10 perfectly good pairs waiting to be worn.

Friday 14 January

Nanna sent Daisy a present. Because, you know, she doesn't have enough clothes :).

A Year in Pictures: Week 1

Right, I need a project. Something that will require me to blog on a regular basis, otherwise this year's entries will be even fewer and farther between than last year's. So I'm going to take a picture a day and post them here each week. That will mean at least 52 blog entries. I'll post Saturday to Friday and will put the posts up the following Tuesday, which gives me three days to get the previous week's pictures organised into a blog post. The photos won't all be of Daisy (although let's face it, most of them will be), and will be of everyday stuff that we do. Here goes:

Saturday 1 January

Having gone to bed before midnight on New Year's Eve for the first time since I was at school, I spent New Year's Day with my two favourite people.

Sunday 2 January

This is a video still, hence the poor quality, but all my regular cameras had run out of battery and it never occurred to me that the video camera has a still camera function as well. Daisy rarely sleeps anywhere but in her cot or the car, so when she didn't immediately wake up when we got home, I had a little fun. It's not the same quality as the ones I saw on an e-mail forward, but then I don't have much imagination, nor do I have all sorts of materials lying around to get creative with, plus I was just desperately hoping that she wouldn't wake up :).

Monday 3 January

This is what my house looks like with all the Christmas lights on. No, it's not on fire. I really must learn how to use my camera properly...

Tuesday 4 January

Daisy's teething. She has had two little buds on her lower gum for about a month now, and in the past week or so she's started sucking her fist a LOT. Then the wet fist comes out of her mouth and onto her clothes.

Wednesday 5 January

This is what I see when I look in the rear view mirror. Which obviously I only do for genuine driving-related reasons, and not just to remind myself of how cute she is.

Thursday 6 January

My photo frame was finally delivered this week. It originally arrived in November, but when I opened the box it was in a mahogany frame, and I'd asked for an oak one as all my furniture is oak. Actually the mahogany looked really nice as it matched my hair colour, but I thought it was probably better to get an oak frame than to buy new furniture, so I returned it. Due to snow and Christmas, it didn't arrive back until today, but I'm really pleased with it.

Friday 7 January

This is one of the presents I got for Christmas: a '4D Cityscape' of New York. First you put together the base, which includes the rivers and surrounding boroughs, then you put the islands on (Manhattan, Liberty, Roosevelt etc), then the buildings go on top of that. And to satisfy the fourth 'D', you put the buildings on in the order they were constructed. Except some of them weren't so easy to identify so we had to do a bit of time travelling. Unfortunately there are two pieces missing, but don't worry, I've e-mailed the company and asked for replacements :).
